Piedmont Chiropractic Center - combining chiropractic, massage, acupuncture and rehab to treat you naturally.

Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

Chiropractic is a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis, and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend massage, acupuncture and therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises as well as to provide nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle counseling.

Who can benefit? Improved nerve communications between your brain and your body can help everyone. Modified adjusting approaches can help children, the elderly, and those with special needs. We often treat patients who have back and neck pain, headaches, or joint dysfunction or have been involved in a trauma, such as a fall or car accident.

How long will it take? Since chiropractic care depends on the healing abilities of each patient, results are hard to predict. Every patient responds differently. Some detect changes in a few short days or weeks.

Massage

Our office utilizes the benefits of massage therapy in our treatment plans. Massage therapy is covered by insurance when medically necessary. Recovery time is improved when our office uses the benefits of massage, rehabilitation stretches, and strengthening exercises.

Massage techniques include neuromuscular, trigger point, and fascia release techniques. Addressing the dysfunction is our primary concern when utilizing massage. Often, rehabilitative stretches, strengthening, and ergonomic suggestions are incorporated into our programs.

Acupuncture

Dr. Parks is certified to practice acupuncture by the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) and has a certificate of attainment from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners for successful completion of the NBCE acupuncture exam.

What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is based on the belief that your body has a constant changing system of energy that when balanced results in better health and vitality. Acupuncture uses small needles to assist in balancing this natural energy that resides in us all.

Does it work? Acupuncture has been shown through numerous research studies conducted by governmental and private entities to be effective in treating many conditions. The same principal foundations of acupuncture have been used on a third of the world’s population for thousands of years with positive results.

Does it hurt? Acupuncture needles are much thinner in diameter than medical bore needles. Therefore, most acupuncture needle insertions are not even detected. Our goal is that treatment is as painless and effective as possible.

Rehabilitation

Our office offers rehabilitative stretches and exercises in treatment programs. It is our belief that this not only facilitates a faster recovery but also prevents re-occurrence of the conditions we treat. Dr. Parks has received additional training and certification in rehabilitation and with licensed and trained chiropractic assistants rehabilitation is implemented with most patients.
